What’s in the tea?

This tea combines two well-known immunity aids: eucalyptus and echinacea.

Eucalyptus has a reputation as an aid in times of colds and congestion, and this reputation is well-deserved. This medicinal tree shares its antimicrobial character even while growing, and has been shown to clean air that has been polluted with sickness-causing pathogens. In a tea, it is simply delicious. It has a sweet and woodsy flavor with a menthol air. Echinacea is a well-known immune stimulant and works on a cellular level to not only protect healthy cells, but stimulates antibodies and other bodily defense mechanisms. Echinacea tea is deeply nourishing, for it is hot water that releases the volatile oils of this plant best.*

To this nourishing duo we bring juniper berries, sage, and spearmint. The juniper berries and sage bring a pine-woods air which accents the woodsy flavor of eucalyptus, while the spearmint brings out its natural menthol. Marshmallow root grounds this blend with a sweet, woodsy feel, and red rose petals and deep purple blackberries bring a moody fragrance that makes you feel like you are indeed wandering through the beautiful woods of Lothlorien.

Tea Story:

I have loved the woodlands ever since I was a child. When life was heavy or too full of noise I would slip away to the wooded stretch of land that bordered our creek, and there in the shelter of the trees I would breathe deeply of the verdant air and feel peace filling my lungs. To this day, it is to the woods I go when I need to restore a dance to my steps. And because I am also a lover of The Lord of the Rings and the beautiful homes of the elves – Lothlorien and Rivendell – I wanted a tea that evoked the feel of their ethereal places. And so Elven Forest was born. It pairs well with rainy twilight, a woven blanket, and any of the works of Tolkien, such as this poem from The Fellowship of the Ring. Bilbo Baggins sang it the night before the Fellowship set out from Rivendell on the long journey that changed their lives forever.

I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

-J. R. R. Tolkien
