What’s in the tea?
Hobbit Tea Time has a red raspberry leaf and red rooibos base. Red raspberry is known to be an overall health tonic, for it’s full of immune-boosting vitamins and minerals. Red rooibos tea is antioxidant-rich and good for the body in many ways, including digestion and skin. Its warm, nutty flavor and caramel-like essence provide the perfect base for this caffeine-free tea.
Tulsi then joins this red duo. Tulsi is considered to be a mild and safe adaptogen for all seasons of life. Not only does it have anti-oxidant qualities, but it is known to recalibrate the body, bringing it to a place of centered calm. Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and ginger give this blend a soft chai feel, and cacao nibs add a hint of chocolate. A pinch of hibiscus and safflower petals ties together the nourishing herbals and warm spices with a delicate sweetness. This tea is a good choice if you wish for a nourishing tea with a mild spice flavor. It holds up well to the addition of milk or cream and, in our opinion, a bit of honey makes it perfect.
Gingersnaps not required but highly recommended.
Steeping Guidelines:
1 Tablespoon tea to 8 ounces water
Water temp: boiling
Steep time: 5-8 minutes
Tea Story:
This blend came about because of my one son’s love of chai and gingersnaps. I bought caffeine-free chai for him at first, but eventually chose to blend a tea with some nourishing herbs in it. It was a success, for he loves it and has no idea that it’s good for him. Children frequently develop an aversion to things they know are good for them. I find myself steeping a cup along with him most days. It’s a flavorful, easy-drinking tea.
“If ever you are passing my way,
don’t wait to knock!
Tea is at four;
but any of you are welcome at any time.”
-J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
