What’s in the tea?

This tea has a green rooibos and alfalfa base. Green rooibos is rich in antioxidants and good for the body in many ways, including digestion and skin. It has a grassy, herbal flavor that pairs especially well with mint or citrus. Alfalfa is a powerhouse of nutrients. Its name is said to result from an Arabic term meaning “Father of All Foods” and the name seems to fit, for this humble grassy legume has a wide variety of vitamins and minerals in it that are easily assimilated by the body. It is particularly potent prepared as an herbal infusion, but it also brings a nourishing base to teas made just for sipping.

Spearmint brings the mint flavor to this tea in a milder, sweeter manner than traditional peppermint. Passionflower and linden are chosen for their calming and relaxing elements, which are good for those prone to anxiety and worry. Passionflower soothes anxiety, and the leaves and flowers of the linden tree calm the central nervous system, releasing the tension that can keep us from taking full, deep breaths. The linden tree features in myths and legends from various cultures and has come to be associated with love, peace, and resilience. Says JJ Pursell of The Herbal Apothecary, “This big beautiful tree is regarded as safe for all in calming the heart and soul.”

Peach pieces and orange peel bring a fresh fruit flavor, and a bit of stevia leaf adds sweetness.

Tea Story:

This tea was designed for my one son who prefers a mint-flavored tea to any other kind. If you have a child who imposes high standards upon himself or is easily overwhelmed with the increasing demands that growing up places upon him or her, this tea may be helpful. It’s a good tea for anyone to drink during times of transition, such as new school years, new jobs, or new social experiences.

“These paper boats of mine
are meant to dance on the ripples of hours,
and not reach any destination.”

— Rabindranath Tagore
