What’s in the tea?
Rooibos tea, which is technically an herb, comes from the leaves of the Aspalathus linearis plant, a native of South Africa. Rooibos is rich in antioxidants and good for the body in many ways, including digestion and skin. To make red rooibos tea, the leaves are cut and exposed to oxygen, bringing out the essential oils and giving the leaves their famous red color and rich flavor. Red rooibos has a sweet nutty flavor and caramel essence, and is the perfect base for a caffeine-free, herbal chai.
Tulsi joins in to make this a nourishing, adaptogenic tea. Tulsi is considered to be a mild and safe adaptogen for all seasons of life. Not only does it have anti-oxidant qualities, but it is known to recalibrate the body, bringing it to a place of centered calm. Spices bring the traditional chai flavor, but then this blend takes an unusual detour. Rose petals bring a subtle floral essence that speaks ease to the heart. In the Ayurvedic tradition, the rose is said to awaken inner beauty. Organic apple pieces bring a fresh sweetness, and rosehips round out the flavor profile with their slight tartness while adding a punch of Vitamin C.
