What’s in the tea?
In this blend, green rooibos and alfalfa partner for a nourishing base. Rooibos tea is rich in antioxidants and good for the body in many ways, including digestion and skin. Alfalfa is a powerhouse of nutrients. Its name is said to result from an Arabic term meaning “Father of All Foods” and the name seems to fit, for this humble grassy legume holds a variety of vitamins and minerals that are easily assimilated by the body. It is particularly potent prepared as an herbal infusion, but it also brings a nourishing base to teas made just for sipping.
And now for the two fun herbs: blue vervain and linden leaf. Blue vervain dissolves tension and energy blockages in the body. It’s especially good for the perfectionists among us. Though these souls are capable of creating great beauty and order, the demand this places on the body can leave emotional stagnation. Blue vervain also has a cooling energy about it, which may be helpful for those dealing with hot flashes. Linden calms the central nervous system, releasing the tension that can keep us from taking full, deep breaths. The linden tree features in myths and legends from various cultures and has come to be associated with love, peace, and resilience. Says JJ Pursell of The Herbal Apothecary, “This big beautiful tree is regarded as safe for all in calming the heart and soul.”
Rose hips, hibiscus, and lemongrass add bright flavor, and lemon balm brings its well-known calm. Catnip is here for its tummy-soothing properties – for those who tend to carry negative emotions in their stomach.
Yellow calendula petals and blue cornflower blossoms bring beauty and soothing color. And finally, sweet marjoram adds a warm, herbal sweetness without tasting sweet. Sweet marjoram, though not a traditional tea choice, lends itself well to this earthy, herbal blend. The aroma alone is known to bring a feeling of calm.

Tea Story:
This blend came into being for those evenings when I wished for a relaxing tea but didn’t need anything to help me sleep. If you are someone who puts pressure on yourself to perform or produce, or if you have a tendency to take on other people’s emotions, this tea can dissolve the tension this leaves in the body. Take a deep breath, and let all that weights you to the earth dissolve for a moment. You are so much more than all you can physically produce in a day.
“In my own hands
I hold a bowl of tea;
I see all of nature represented
in its green color.
Closing my eyes,
I find green mountains and pure water
within my own heart.
Silently sitting alone
and drinking tea,
I feel these become a part of me.”-Sen Soshitsu
