Behind the Name

Who am I? I’m just a hobbit heart in a Big Folk’s world. Tolkien could very well have been describing me when he described hobbits in The Fellowship of the RingHobbits love peace and quiet and good-tilled earth. They do not understand or like complicated machines. They are shy of the Big Folk, do not hurry unnecessarily, dress in bright colors, and seldom wear shoes.”

I collect books everywhere I go and bring them home with me, like little stray cats. In everything from poetry to mythology to history, and in literature from all eras, I see the interconnected nature of our world. Stories show me that we humans are capable of great beauty and meaning in the midst of a world that often seems cruel and absurd.

Stories show me people who re-soul the world.

I’ve been scribbling poetry and stories since I first learned to write. I love hiking in the woods, music of all kinds, thunderstorms and waterfalls, and endless pots of tea. Please settle in with a cuppa and explore. Perhaps you’ll find a kindred spirit here, and not feel so alone in the world.

Words are the unbreakable chains.
An idea, implanted in the mind,
is the most resilient force in the universe.
Ideas reshape human history.
