Mandala Art

Mandalas are an ancient art form. The circle symbolizes the ever-expanding journey of the soul to wholeness, and elements of mandala design have been found in all the major religions. The quiet process of drawing them is deeply therapeutic.

“ The mandala is an archetypal image
whose occurrence is attested
throughout the ages.
It signifies the wholeness of the Self.
This circular image represents
the wholeness of the psychic ground or,
to put it in mythic terms,
the divinity incarnate in man.”

Carl Jung

I also love poetry lines and song lyrics in art. These pieces of art came about because I wanted to combine the two. Mandalas are hand-drawn and hand-lettered on textured paper with colored pencils.

While I normally love the rich and vibrant shades of traditional mandalas, this blue and white one came about because of my love for the blue willow china pattern. I also have a thing for German folk art, and the birds are drawn from that inspiration. This one is all about healing and rebirth, and what the in-between seasons bring to us in their many different forms.
This one was done for a new mom and her baby daughter.

I’ll add to this page as I complete more pieces, but if you’d like to stay up-to-date on new designs in the works, follow me on Instagram or Facebook. The link buttons are on the yellow bar at the top of the blog.
