What’s in the tea?
Mint tea is a wonderful digestive drink, and a combination of peppermint and spearmint forms the foundation for this tea. Marshmallow root and licorice root then join this mint blend, elevating this tea into an extra-soothing cuppa. Marshmallow root is known by herbalists to be healing to the digestive system. Licorice root is another tummy-soothing herb. It nourishes the entire intestinal tract, reducing inflammation and relaxing tense muscles.
To this healing trio come the additions of fennel and anise hyssop. These two herbs complement the mint and licorice root beautifully with their gentle anise flavors. They also are known to relax the gastrointestinal system and ease digestion. Ginger adds additional digestive support and a bit of spicy warmth. The final touch? A sprinkling of cacao nibs. They add a deep flavor layer that ties together the sweet and earthy flavors of this blend.
Steeping guidelines:
1 full Tablespoon tea to 8 ounces water
Water temp: boiling
Steep time: 8-10 min.
Tea Story:
I’ve always grown mint in my backyard, even during seasons when I wasn’t feeling well enough to grow much. It’s incredibly easy to grow, and can thrive in sun or shade. It became my tea choice for those seasons when my digestive system didn’t seem to like anything. Healing digestive pain can be a complex issue, and there were several things that contributed to that healing, but through that journey this tea became a favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
